People often ask me how I afford to travel so much. The truth is... I can't so I improvise. I'll drive instead of fly (even if it is on the other side of the country), I'll eat PB&J sandwiches, granola bars, fruit and just drink water for a couple weeks.. only occasionally getting a restaurant meal. I'll stay in the cheapest motels, pitch a tent or car camp (sometimes in below freezing temperatures). I'll lug around all my gear and wear the same clothes a few days in a row to save space and reduce weight. It is not a glamorous lifestyle like my pictures make it seem. It is the most humbling and rewarding experience when I rough it for a few weeks then return back to what most of us take for granted... Driving for hours and sometimes days with very little sleep, those are the moments when he realizes his passion has become an obsession.
